East Finchley Neighbourhood Support – a grassroots community group, originally formed by members of the East Finchley Community Facebook group – provides help for N2 residents with shopping, picking up prescriptions, dog walking etc. and provides a friendly ear on the end of the phone.
EFNS has partnered with The N2 Food Project to provide chilled meals to takeaway and reheat, for anyone who needs a helping hand – no referrals needed. The service operates from The Phoenix Cinema on Tuesday mornings. Email EFNSfoodproject@gmail.com for details of how to volunteer.
Age UK Barnet
Based in East Finchley, AgeUK Barnet offers services and support for older people and also coordinates volunteers to help people in need.
AgeUK Barnet is working to help all older people who are in need. They aim to help with delivering cooked meals, admin tasks such as setting up prescriptions that can be delivered to the door, fitting light bulbs, regular chats over the phone to beat isolation, and activity packs including magazines, puzzle books and craft supplies.

Barnet Council’s accredited volunteer centre, delivered by Groundwork London unites volunteers and organisations to support and promote all aspects of volunteering.
Community Barnet’s volunteer centre, which is staffed by volunteers, offers a brokerage service between volunteers and local voluntary organisations. Volunteers must be aged over 18 and live in the borough of Barnet.

NHS Volunteer Responders
NHS Volunteer Responders is a new group that will carry out simple, non-medical tasks to support people in England who have been asked to shield themselves from coronavirus because of underlying health conditions. They will be used by healthcare professionals to make sure people who are highly vulnerable to coronavirus (COVID-19) are able to stay safe and well at home.
Recruitment to this scheme was temporarily paused on 29 March 2020 to process the initial 750,000 applications. For further information, see the NHS Volunteer Responders website.
